Just posting a reminder how we’ve added new Goomy 4 pack of stickers to the Clover Coin Etsy Shop!
For Valentine’s day we’re also giving away a free "Fox Cravings" post card print with every purchase to help spread the love this month!
And for a very limited time (until supplies run out!) we are offering freebie buttons with every purchase of our older supplies! Figure they need a good jacket or cork board to call home.
Come get ‘em while you still can folks! :D
A guide to hatching shinies based on TSV and ESV.
So here you are with your boxes upon boxes of eggs. It’s time to hatch them and see if you got that shiny munchlax … yay.
As it turns out, no, that’s a big waste of time. Whether or not a pokemon is shiny depends on who is hatching it, and isn’t actually decided until it hatches. So, using some tools you can actually sift through your eggs without hatching them to pick one that’ll be shiny for you. Or you can get someone to hatch it in their game so that it will be shiny.
Okay, here we go. Each egg (and pokemon, but we only really care about eggs) has an SV, or Shiny Value. It’s just a number between 0 and somewhere in the 4-5k range that helps decide if it’ll be shiny; we’ll call it the ESV. Lower or higher is no better or worse, it’s just an ID. Similarly, each trainer has an SV (their TSV) in the same range. When an egg hatches, if the TSV matches the ESV exactly then BAM! shiny time! What this means is that if you can find out your TSV and your egg’s ESV ahead of time, you can pick to only hatch the shinies.
Now this means you can join one of the many TSV exchange communities, get yourself “instachecked” and get your TSV and ESV’s. Then you can find someone with a TSV matching your ESV and ask them to hatch your eggs for you (and help people that have ESV’s matching YOUR TSV too!)
Now for those of you that want to do your own instachecking, there’s a few technical steps and some requirements.
1. You’ll need a friend (or another 3ds also running X/Y)
2. A computer with a wireless card (supported by WinPCap, which is almost all of them)
If you’ve got these, then you’re all set to get started.
Go to this thread and follow the instructions to get yourself up and running with Instacheck.
Once it’s installed, open up InstacheckHotspot.exe
It will ask for a
1. Network Name (SSSID)
3. Shared Connection
(For me, I chose SSID: Prov, password: ProvsPassword)
The network name can be whatever you want, but should not match anything else nearby. The password can also be whatever you want, but it has to be at least 8 characters long.
The shared connection should be whatever network adapter you use for your internet connection. To find out what that is go to start and type in “Network Connections”. A shortcut to View Network Connections will show up. Just look for whichever one is your internet’s. (Mine is Wireless Network Connection since I’m connecting over wifi)
Once you’ve set all that up, just click “start hotspot”. It should, after a brief delay, give you a confirmation that everything started up.
Now get your 3ds. Go to “System Settings” -> “Internet Settings” -> “Connection Settings”. Remove any wireless networks that you can connect to near your computer. Once that’s done, you have to add the new network you just made (Again, mine was Prov/ProvsPassword). Just add it like any other network using the SSID and Password you chose.
It should run through the connection test and succeed. Once that’s all done, launch Pokemon and go online. Then go into InstaCheck hotspot and click “Start Instacheck”. Then go down to the bottom just above the “Start Scanning” button, and select your wireless adapter.
Then (once you’ve gotten pokemon online) click “Start Scanning”.
Now just open up a trade with your friend (or yourself) and every pokemon (or egg) that you show will provide an ESV in the “Pokemon Shiny Value” field. To see your TSV, you must show a pokemon that you caught in the wild in YOUR GAME. Show them until you find one that matches your (or your friend’s) SV and hatch away!
TO WRAP IT UP:
Pokemons have an ESV
Trainers have a TSV
When an egg hatches, if the trainer holding it has the same TSV as the egg has ESV, it’s a shiny. You can get your ESV/TSV’s from a program called Instacheck.
One last note, if it ever screws up and you’re sure you had a matching ESV and TSV but it’s not shiny, do a soft reset and rehatch it.
Good luck shiny hatching!

Since some people asked me about the “Sweet Scent Method”, I decided to make this shitty guide :)
I hope this helps :)
The official art of Mega Heracross, Mega Gyarados, Mega Manectric, Mega Gardevoir, Mega Aerodactyl and Mega Abomasnow
Here is a Shiny Guide I made for my fellow members at ATRL and well I decided to let the Tumblr people know about it. Pretty much a sum up of what I do. I mean, I did catch 15+ shiny pokemon by doing this.
Any questions, please feel free to ask! Hope you guys enjoy! :)

Another pokerdar shiny hunting guide with some pretty pictures (and even more useful info!)
Hey friends, a new way to easily find shinies has been discovered in XY.
There’s no concrete proof yet, but an NPC mentions finding “rarer” Pokemon by fishing many in a row, many anons on /vp/ are sharing shiny fish (some even multiple in half an hour), and I myself have caught a shiny Relicanth.
edit: Literally two minutes after posting this I reeled in a shiny Skrelp. There’s no way this is just a placebo at this point.
More fishing shiny help!
